The DMC-FZ48 features a 25mm ultra wide-angle 24x optical zoom F2.8-5.2 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens (35mm camera equivalent: 25-600mm). The powerful 24x optical zoom can be used both in photo and video recording. The 25mm ultra wide-angle lens has about twice the shooting area as a standard 35mm lens. Thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology, the 32x Intelligent Zoom is also available. In addition, the POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) helps you clear, crisp, blur-free zooming shots.

With the F2.8 LEICA DC lens, Hi-speed CCD and Venus Engine FHD, the DMC-FZ48 achieves the superb image quality. Especially, combined with the bright lens, the Hi-speed CCD realizes high image quality even in higher sensitivity. The F2.8 LEICA DC lens features Nano Surface Coating technology that boasts extremely low reflectance ratio to suppress ghosting. The DMC-FZ48 can record full HD 1920 x 1080 videos in AVCHD format, thanks to Hi-speed CCD that features higher transfer processing speed. The DMC-FZ48 also features high quality sound of Dolby® Digital Stereo Creator and a dedicated video button that lets you instantly start recording videos without any having to make any extra settings. The POWER O.I.S. Active Mode comes in handy when shooting while walking or playing with children. The DMC-FZ48 can also record full HD video in MP4 format, optimal for viewing or editing on a computer.

With the DMC-FZ48, you can enjoy full-manual control in both photo and video recording. In the Creative Video Mode, the shutter speed and aperture can be adjusted, just like you do with photographs. The Creative Control allows you to set artistic effect more intuitively.
