SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass and a molded glass aspherical lens element provide excellent correction of all types of aberrations. High image quality is assured throughout the entire focusing range and the Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting. This lens provides sharp and high contrast images even at the maximum aperture of F1.4. The incorporation of HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) provides fast and quiet autofocus and the rounded 9 blade diaphragm creates an attractive blur to the out of focus areas of the image.

The lens effectively becomes a large aperture 127.5mm medium telephoto when used with APS-C size digital SLR cameras.

Dedicated Hood Adapter HA850-02 (Supplied)
A Petal-type-Hood which prevents extraneous light from degrading the image quality is supplied as standard. A Hood adapter extends the length of the lens hood and provides more effective shading when used with digital cameras with an APS-C size image sensor.
* When using the APS-C Hood Adapter HA850-02 with digital cameras with larger than APS-C size image sensor, vignetting will occur. Please remove he hood adapter id you are using these cameras.
